History of the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center
Owned by Ryman Hospitality Properties and operated by Marriott International, this resort is not only right near Walt Disney World, but also hosts popular Christmas and holiday programming such as Best of Florida Christmas as well as ICE!, an event featuring hand-carved ice sculpture.
Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center was launched in 2002 and has recently been renovated to add more rooms and increase the convention center space. The impressive $158 million renovation was touted to be the hotel’s largest expansion in its entire history since its launch and was completed in just two years between 2019 and 2021. Now, there’s more than 500,000 square feet to work with when it comes to events.
Geographic Location and Things To Do
Located within the resort itself, visit the Relache Spa, which is well loved for its exclusive therapies and treatments that will help to destress any tensed and anxious mind.
Another attraction not to be missed is the Cypress Springs Water Park, one of the highlights of the resort. Featuring a zero-entry pool, racing water slides, a drop slide, a surfing area, and even a tree-house playground, this water park will provide hours of endless fun for guests of all ages.
Explore the hotel by going on a scavenger hunt throughout the whole resort. You only need to talk to the front desk to get your scavenger hunt journal and get started. A tip to bear in mind- use a compass on your phone instead of the one provided, since the ones on your phone tend to be more accurate.
Outside of the hotel, you can visit places like Fun Spot America, which you’ll love if you want to participate in some go-kart races, or if you have a family that would love to visit a smaller scale amusement park.
If you enjoy being outdoors and it’s not right in the middle of the summer heat, you might enjoy visiting the Evolve Bicycle and Ebike Rentals. Take a bike ride around the area to see even more of what’s available to you and to start planning your next meal or day.
