History of Rosen Shingle Creek
The area received the name “Shingle Creek” in the early 1800s when English settlers first moved into the area. The neighboring cypress trees were cut down just behind the creek where the hotel is now located, and the wood was used for roofing shingles, hence the name “Shingle Creek.”
Even back then, Shingle Creek was an important part of the area. The creek was used to transport logs from the mill upstream down to settlements. These days, the creek is the headwaters for the Florida Everglades and is a vital body of freshwater for residents and wildlife.
While the area of Shingle Creek is almost as old as the United States itself, Rosen Shingle Creek was only recently established in 2006. With 255 acres and 1,501 guest rooms, Rosen Shingle Creek hotel is one of the biggest event centers in Central Florida. Since 2007, the hotel has been awarded the AAA Four Diamond designation every year.
Designed and modeled after 1900s Spanish Revival architecture, the hotel boasts several beautiful high arches and is painted in warm earthy tones. With elegant architecture and warm, southern decorating, Rosen Shingle Creek is one of the most impressive and awe-inspiring event venues.
